North Fayette Valley Stakeholder Survey Report

The North Fayette Valley school board administered a stakeholder survey from Dec. 16-Jan. 6th which resulted in 192 total responses from students, teachers, support staff, parents, community members, administrators, and alumni.  The results provided some great insights for the district in regard to strengths, areas of concern and what stakeholders are looking for in a new superintendent.  The board reviewed the report from the Grundmeyer Leader Services consultants and identified the following qualifications as top priorities for the next district superintendent:

  • Recruits, hires and develops a strong administrative team
  • Promotes a community of care and support for students
  • Builds school and community relations
  • Effectively manages district resources
  • Is approachable, accessible and welcoming
  • Follows through on tasks and responsibilities
  • Possess strong communication skills

The application period for the position was open from Dec 19, 2019 through Feb. 2, 2020.  Twenty candidates formally applied to be the next North Fayette Valley Superintendent.  The pool included seven out of state candidates and three female candidates.  Eight candidates had a terminal (EdD or PhD) degree.

After reviewing the applicants materials and considering reference feedback the school board selected seven candidates to move forward as semi-finalists.  Their names remain confidential but finalists names will be released after screening interviews on Monday, Feb. 24th.  The screening interviews will consist of nine interview questions via an electronic interview format.  The board will use these interviews and further reference information to decide on three finalists that will interview in the district on Monday, March. 2nd.

Stakeholders invited to serve on the formal interview teams will soon be asked to provide feedback on the formal interview questions.  The formal interview schedule on March 2nd will include a community/district tour, two formal interviews with mixed interview teams and a board interview.  The board will consider feedback from the interview teams in deciding which finalists is the best candidates to serve as the next NFV Superintendent.
