MINUTES OF THE FEBRUARY 18, 2019

Special Meeting/Closed Session

 

Board Vice President Soderquist called the special meeting of the NFV Board of Education to order at 5:37 p.m. in the NFV High School Library, 600 North Pine Street, West Union, Iowa.

 

Board members present: Ahrens, Daughton, Schlawin and Soderquist. Absent: Cummings, Roys, and Rue.

 

Motion to approve the agenda as printed. Daughton/Ahrens. Motion carried 4-0.

 

Motion to move to closed session as provided in section 21.5(e) of the open meetings law to conduct a hearing to suspend or expel a student. Ahrens/Daughton. Roll call vote. Ayes: Ahrens, Daughton, Schlawin and Soderquist. Nays: none. Motion carried unanimously.

 

The board moved to closed session at 5:39 p.m. and reconvened in open session at 6:37 p.m.

 

Motion to expel student until Monday, March 25, 2019 and give access to curriculum without the use of a school computer and upon return to school any action that would cause removal for any student will be cause for expulsion. Soderquist/Ahrens. Roll call vote. Ayes: Daughton, Schlawin, Soderquist and Ahrens. Nays: none. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion to adjourn. Schlawin/Ahrens. Motion carried 4-0.

 

The board adjourned their special meeting at 6:40 p.m.
