BOARD OF EDUCATION 

 

Minutes, Special Meeting of the North Fayette Valley Community School District Board of Education, Wednesday, March 30, 2022, in the NFV High School Library, 600 N Pine Street, West Union, IA  52142

 

NFV Board of Education: LaCreasha Schultz (arrived late), Julie Ahrens, Amanda 

Rodgers, Eileen Schlawin, Stacy Cummings, Emily Koch, 

& Richard Klosterman.   Student Members: Claire Britt  

Others: Superintendent: Joe Griffith, Business Manager: Sue 

Thoms; Principals: Lori Westhoff; & Media: Jack Swanson.

 

President Cummings called the Regular Meeting of the NFV Board of Education to order at 4:30 pm and Julie Ahrens led the Board and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance.

 

Roll Call of Board members: Ahrens, Rodgers, Klosterman, Cummings, Schultz, Koch, & Schlawin.   

 

The agenda was approved as presented with the addition of internal transfer – Kim Kleve from MS Spec Ed to MS Language Arts and resignations of Shaylie Stortz – HS Social Studies and Jennifer Bliven – MS Band.   Schlawin/Ahrens  Motion Carried 6-0

 

The Board approved the following transfers, resignations, and new hires:  Transfers:  Renee Larson from 1st grade VE to 1st grade WUE, Susan Wenger – Title I VE to 1st grade VE, Ashley Becker – MS Language Arts to Title I VE, & Kim Kleve – MS Special Ed to MS Language Arts;  Resignations:  Lisa Ellis – WUE Para and MS Volleyball, Donna Kos – Spanish, Jennifer Bliven – MS Band, & Shaylie Stortz – HS Social Studies;  New Hires – Ashlee Solheim – HS Para & Lisa Meyer – HS Spanish.   Schlawin/Ahrens  Motion Carried 6-0

 

The Board approved an exchange student from Mongolia to attend NFV HS during the FY23 school year.   Klosterman/Ahrens  Motion Carried 6-0

 

The Board approved the tentative agreement with the NFVEA consisting of a 3% total package increase distributed evenly ($1467 each based on FTE) and an additional personal leave day for certified employees with 20+ years of teaching experience for the FY23 school year only.  Schlawin/Klosterman  Motion Carried 6-0

 

The Board approved an increase of $500 to the base salary for all NFVEA lanes for new employees.  Schlawin/Ahrens  Motion Carried 6-0

 

The Board approved the FY23 contracts for certified staff including teaching and supplemental contracts.   Schlawin/Klosterman  Motion Carried 7-0

 

Motion to adjourn at 4:42 pm. Schlawin/Koch  Motion Carried 7-0
