Minutes, Special Meeting of the North Fayette Valley Community School District Board of Education, Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in the NFV Central Office, 600 N Pine St, West Union, IA  52175

 

NFV Board of Education: Julie Ahrens, Stacy Cummings, Eileen Schlawin, Emily 

Koch, Carolyn Roys (Teams) & LaCreasha McNeese(Teams).  Marc Rue was absent.

President Cummings called the Special Meeting of the NFV Board of Education to order at 6:07 p.m. Julie Ahrens led the board and audience in the Pledge of Allegiance. 

 

Motion to approve the agenda.  Schlawin/Koch  Motion Carried 5-0 

 

Superintendent Griffith reviewed the bids that were received for the West Union Elementary HVAC renovation project.  2 contractors – Casper Plumbing & Heating and Olympic Builders – submitted bids for this project of which Casper had the lowest bid of $4,320,815.  This amount is higher than was projected due to COVID mitigation and building cost increases.  The Board discussed the costs, funding, delaying other district projects, and the timeline.  Superintendent Griffith recommended that the low bid be approved.

 

Board Member Ahrens made the motion to approve the bid of $4,320,815 from Casper Plumbing & Heating pending the approval of the ESSER II Capital Expenditure Application.  Schlawin seconded.  Motion Carried 6-0.   

 

The Board adjourned the meeting at 6:39 p.m.  Ahrens/Koch  Motion Carried 6-0
