- OLD BUSINESS
- Consider plan to purchase Wrestling Mat Mr. Wolverton has been looking at and pricing different mats and working with Mr. Lundgren to make a recommendation for the new wrestling mat. He will give us an update on this situation.
- NEW BUSINESS
- Appoint negotiations committee The NFVEA negotiated contract expires this year for Certified staff. I assume once SSA is set they will ask to begin that process. We would like to have 3 volunteers to be on this committee with Sue and I. They will also hear set exempt employee requests and set raises. Right now SSA is either 2.1% or 2.5% plus money for transportation and per pupil equity is being discussed.
- Preview Proposed FY21 calendar DLT and Labor Management Committee has reviewed calendars and we have a couple for you to look at. I’m not going to throw an unconventional calendar out there and leave, but there is some support for a calendar with built in snow days.
- Revise Policy #705.5 Public purpose Every summer our athletic coaches take teams to clinics and camps for 2-3 days at a time. The costs are on the students and we have not provided transportation, because it has not been an appropriate expenditure of district funds. Every year I hear from them how most schools do allow their vehicles to be used for these purposes. With the changes from Dillons Rule to Home Rule “light” a couple years ago, we have been given more flexibility. We can now spend on items that are provided for in board policy. In the packet is my edited policy that would include allowing for this use of school vehicles. The policy does put limits on usage and makes them get board approval.
The policy as written suggests a mileage limit would be applied, however it would be very appropriate to allow the use of the vehicles with volunteer, licensed drivers, and the coaches tigerhawk accounts to pay for fuels, therefore, only the wear and tear of the vehicle is the only district expense. That and Mr. Weidemann’s time to prepare and clean up the vehicles. Given our current general fund, I’d recommend this option.
- Consider Lease agreement for copiers – Marco has come to us with a proposal to renew our 5 year copier lease this month. It expires on June 30, they are offering a good deal and new machines in all offices will be delivered this month. This is advantageous to both of us, we will see $3000-$4000 reduction in costs because they will be very busy in the summer months. We have been very satisfied with Marco’s service and equipment. The agreement is in the packet, I recommend approval.
- Consider New Wellness Policy, BP # 507.9 The state has changed its expectations for the Wellness Policy. The new version is in the packet. It requires much less of our Wellness committee, 3 goals one in food and nutrition, one in physical activity and one in school environment. Our committee and DLT have narrowed down all the options to the three that accompany the policy. This is a first read.
- Handbook change for Downtown Academy Mr. Wolverton has submitted a slight change in the requirements for making progress at Downtown Academy for second semester. It is designed to make the students more accountable every week. It’s needed, I recommend approval.
- Valley site Day Care update We will have an update from Mr. Gearhart.
- Request for open enrollment out This is not related to our previous request. The students requesting open enrollment to CAM K-12 Academy moved into the district in January. They have not attended more than 1 day since then due to their diagnosed anxiety. I have asked the mother to bring in the Dr’s notes, but she has written a note identifying their problems. I will share this at the meeting.
