  • Review of Capital Projects Budget – I have created a planning spreadsheet for the PPEL and SAVE funds for the next 5 years.  This includes estimated revenues for those years, the future payments for bus leases and our sales tax bonds, my budget estimates for routine maintenance and technology. This way the board and the cmt can see what funds we have to work with each year. I put a few ideas on paper just to get conversation started.
  • Consider RFP for VOIP phone system  Bruce Ehler is looking for a VOIP system to unite the phones in all our buildings.  He has an RFP, enclosed, that he would like to submit to vendors for this purchase. Goal is to have it installed before July 1, so I am recommending we approve this RFP.
  • Policy Revision The first four policies are reactions to the availability of Cannibus oil (CBD)  There is a chance that an employee or student could be legally using CBD and test positive for THC, which is the mood altering compound of Marijuana.  Because CBD is illegal to use by federal law, we need to prepared for handling a positive drug test due to legal in Iowa CBD use. This is especially concerning for bus drivers due to the random drug test for them and the safety issues involved in drivers under the influence of ANY drug that may alter their ability to drive.

The last three are policies we are proposing for our international trips.  Tammy Wolverton found some guidance from the State Department that brought us back to the forms we have students and parents sign.  We are editing those to meet new concerns and proposing one new form that has been suggested to address child trafficking.

Suggested edits are in red on the policies in the packet.  First Read

  • Student Ex-officio Member of the board – We have 9 applicants, I sent their apps to you and we should now approve a student member, keeping in mind they can’t be seated till next month after the second reading of the policy 202.6
  • Strategies to consider for snow days – As I opened up the discussion in my newsletter, you may have heard some public comment.  Current situation is 8 days to make up, which takes us to Thursday June 6. More winter to come.  I’d like to plan to make up minutes in a combination of these:

      1. 4 days May 28,29,30 and 31 (Tues. – Fri)          1825 minutes
      2. 5 Cancelled Wednesday @75 min each         375 minutes
      3. Use April 18 with early out                  320 minutes
      4. Add 10 minutes to 29 days (Feb 18 to Mar 29)     290 minutes

            2810 Minutes

We had 2652 minutes extra in the calendar so the total extra min =     +2652 minutes

                                         5462 extra minutes

                            Minutes lost so far       -3685

                                        1777 extra (4.5 days)

  • Board Discussion for Possible agenda items
  • Adjourn
