      1. Resignations –
      2. Involuntary Transfer – Julie Frieden to HS Math

This transfer is due to the lack of applicants for the high school math position.  Julie is being transferred from the middle school to the high school.  Her day will start with 8th grade Algebra at the middle school before traveling to the high school for the rest of the day.  Ms. Madole is recommended to teach the remainder of the classes at the middle school at .75 time.

      1. New Hires – Robin Madole – MS Math, increase for Tracy Schlitter & Sam Becker, Carol Link – VELC para

-As mentioned above, Ms. Madole will be teaching the classes at the middle school that Ms. Freiden was scheduled to teach.  This will be a .75 time position, at the BA+10 step.  We anticipate reassessing our math needs during the upcoming school year.

-With the elimination of Bruce Ehler’s position, our technology department will be asked to pick up additional responsibilities.  Mr. Willhite recommended this increase.

-Carol Link will be an associate at the VELC (after school program at the Valley Campus).

  • Return to learn update

-The Return to Learn assurances have been submitted and approved by the Iowa Department of Education.  These assurances include a number of areas that need to be considered as we make decisions about our upcoming educational program.

-The Return to Learn teams have done a great job creating a working document to help guide our decisions.  The Return to Learn Plan covered three learning models: Onsite, Online and Hybrid.

-The administrative team is in the process of taking the larger documents our Return to Learn teams created and putting together more of a “rubber meets the road” document.

  • As we look forward to fall, our goal is to have students back in class utilizing appropriate safety precautions and actions.  The Covid-19 situation has been very fluid and subject to frequent change. Families should plan for all three educational models as we may find ourselves making changes with short notice.

  1. OLD BUSINESS
    1. Appoint Student Ex-officio member(s) to the Board
  2. NEW BUSINESS
    1. Final Reading: Temporary Board Policy

This is the second reading of this policy pertaining to Covid-19.

    1. Approve Lease/Purchase agreement for new busses

Originally the recommendation was to purchase two busses.  With the questions regarding state aid and expected revenue, it was determined to opt for a Lease/Purchase option this round.  Moving forward we will need to assess this buying option closely.

    1. Approve Staff Handbook changes for 2020-2021

One addition that I want to be sure to point out is the Special Covid-1 Statement.  This statement addresses employees that have underlying health conditions and expectations if they are not able to return to work.  It also lays out very clear expectations that staff without these health concerns are obligated to return to work.

Changes are indicated in red on the handbook provided.

    1. Approve Student Handbook changes

Building Principals will be happy to answer any questions.

    1. Review/Approve Early Retirement for administrators

This has been something the District has done for retiring Administrators that meet the qualifications.

    1. Review/Approve Digital Sign at Valley Campus
    2. Approve Supt Griffith as Superintendent/signee for NFV bank accounts
  1. Board Discussion for Possible agenda items
  2.  Adjourn
